I can't say either of them were bad, but they just really lacked that Marvel "pop."

I enjoyed them as mindless, harmless fun. :P

Hiddleston is worth the price of admission. :)

It was fine. They're both fine. I just don't think they've quite figured out how to put Thor on screen by himself yet.

I found the first Thor film a tad disjointed (the Earth and the Asgard stuff didn't mesh well for me) and dull...and the next film just plain messy and dull (and, frankly, mostly forgettable, can't remember most of that film).  I like the director of the new film, but what I like about his work prior to landing Thor was that it was small comedies. Maybe he will be the breath of fresh air Thor needs, but I don't see it really ending up with the small quirky comedic sensibilities I admire from the filmmaker, so I can't see myself jumping on board a third outing of Thor anytime soon.

I love the THOR movies, although CAPTAIN AMERICA movies are my favorites MARVEL films.

Cap has been the most consistently awesome series. I like them all and I can't even say that about Iron Man, being unimpressed by 2 or 3.

Yep, same here. They were serviceable but not memorable. Most of the other Marvel movies I have watched repeatedly but Thor movies don't invite that same interest. For me anyways.

RUMOR : CAPTAIN AMERICA Star Chris Evans Reportedly Moving On From Steve Rogers After AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

In a new profile, Avengers: Infinity War star Chris Evans seemingly confirms that once his contract with Marvel Studios is up, he's moving on from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Oh no, Evans' Cap was one of the best things in the MCU movies.

I'm not surprised.  Evans said a few years ago that when his contract with Marvel was up he might take it easy on acting gigs and try to move more into directing.  If he is tiring of it all even a few years ago, I can definitely imagine him just ready to get out by now.  Downey's contract will end the same time. It's always possible they can hand em a sack full of money and they return for more, but if their heart isn't in it anymore? I wouldn't want to watch bored actors getting older in roles they'd rather move on from.

Yep.

That's kind of how it felt watching Daniel Craig in the last Bond movie; his performance felt kind of by-the-numbers to me.  It lacked the passion of his work in Casino Royale and Skyfall.

All good things end.   If Marvel needs to continue?  They can always recast.   They've recast Spiderman about a billion times already.

As Star Trek taught us, no role is beyond the reach of truly creative and imaginative recasting...

I hear RDJ is still open to an IM 4, but I just think the studio is too busy cranking out the rest to care.

Despite my unpopular opinion that IM3 wasn't so bad, I think the character works better as part of the ensemble.

Yeah. I don't think it was so hot either. He was barely in the suit for the film, which is kind of a thing in my book. If the suits in the "house party protocol" are essentially autonomous, who needs RDJ? And I kinda really dislike Paltrow so seeing her be the hero at the end annoyed the hell outta me.

A big part of the quality success of Iron Man 3 for me was seeing it not too long after seeing Man of Steel...so the idea of seeing a hero just try and save people in a heroic fashion seemed so light and enjoyable, that the whole thing was pure fun and joy at the time. Admittedly I have forgotten much of it by now, and I am also not much of a comic reader, so things that might've annoyed Marvel fans that were changed from the books would have never bothered me.

Thats the thing with a lot of the MCU for me, some of it is fairly enjoyable at the time (unless it's a boring Thor movie or a movie in which they try to make Hulk carry his own feature film), but it all fades from memory and I rarely feel the need to give it a second watch.  The only one (I think) I rewatched was the first Avengers, and I found it a lot less exciting the second time around...which was weird because despite feeling lukewarm to most of the movies that preceded it, I absolutely had a blast in the theater with it.  But I got it on blu-ray, popped it in once, and while it was mildly fun, it lost something. I think a big part of what made it so much fun was that joy that this improbable thing, the cluster that it should've been by jamming all these wildly different kind of characters together actually worked, and it wasn't a cluster...it was light and fun and melded perfectly.  But once I'd already seen it come to life in front of me...see it all worked out and how much fun it was to see the banter, the sheen wore off.  Trying to watch it again lacked that inital enjoyment that the crazy thing worked in spite of what I thought were obstacles that would prevent working.

Anyhow, Chris Evans will most likely move on, unless endless bags of cash tempt him too much (and they very probably could), but I think it would be good for him if he did move on. He made lots of money, got a lot more star power, and he could maybe pursue something he is more interested in as a result. Good for him....but he probably will return for bags of cash.  They tend to do so.
