Which one is yours and why???

Mine is tied between the Constitution Refit, the Galaxy class, and the Sovereign class.

Refit because it was the first ship I ever saw in star trek because my uncle showed me TWOK when I was 3, Galaxy class because it was from the first series I ever watched at 4, and then the Sovereign because that ship is gorgeous!!!

Constitution refit and Sovereign.

When I first saw the CR in ST-TMP, it was love at first sight. :inlove:

And the Sovereign is just sleek as hell; looks like it's always in motion, even when stationary. I liked the model version in FC, not the all-CGI version seen in INS and NEM; there is a difference.

I suppose my third choice would be the Excelsior variant (1701-B). Those new wings on the side of the secondary hull (the ones made just to get damaged) look kind of cool to me for some reason.

All the ships are cool to various degrees. My favorites are the Defiant-class and the Nebula-class. The former I like because Starfleet finally wised up and made a battleship. I also really like the claustrophobic feel of it. Doesn't feel like a city in space and I kind of like the intimacy it gives the crew of being in such tight quarters with each other. The latter is hard to explain, but there is something about it that I really like. I even paid to get one in Star Trek: Online. haha. I think if I did live in that universe and could have a ship of my choosing, I'd want a Nebula-class.

I can understand the love for the Defiant interior; it's the only ship in the 24th century fleet that feels like a tight, cloistered little submarine, right down to the bunk beds. The only thing about her I can't abide is the exterior. She does look like a flying toilet seat. While I admire the bold choice of ditching the traditional saucer, engine hull and separate nacelles (it's become a cliche in ST), I just wish they could've found a way to make her exterior look just a bit more... cool.

Totally agree about the nebula class; like it better than the bloated galaxy class, to be honest.

I'm struggling to choose to be honest. I'll split this into 23rd and 24th century ships.

I love the refit. After 35 years the detailing on the ship, it's lines and so on still look amazing. That said, I'm growing more and more fond of the original thanks to the CGI work in the final season really bringing out the details on a ship that always seemed too much polished like a snooker ball in the original.

I'm also a big fan of the Constellation class, just because it's quirky. It's a kitbash that looks good in it's own right, which is a rarity for me.

Going forwards to the 24th century, it's a toss up between the Sovereign and the Defiant. They're a perfect contrast of what the latter day Starfleet stands for. The former, utterly elegant and sleek. The top of the line, the fleet's finest, carrying the fleets most famous name and continuing where the previous incarnations left off.

The latter makes no pretence, does nothing to hide her purpose (even if some fool thinks that listing her as an 'escort' thinks otherwise). An out and out warship, built from the ground up to give the Borg, the Romulans and anyone else who wants a piece of the Federation a swift kick in the teeth.

Someone else who loves the Nebula-class! May I marry you It's so CUTE! No one ever loves it and I'm always like HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE IT it looks so cute with the saucer section and the engines right behind it it looks like as if someone crashed into a Galaxy-class from front and behind at the same time and out came this adorable little thing, lol. I've always wanted a little model micro machines model ship of it, imagine the cuteness.

However, my vote went to the Sovereign class, of course. Why? Everyone knows why. :P I would have voted for the Constellation-class otherwise. Why? Everyone knows that as well, haha.

All pale in comparison to the Vor'Cha' or K'T'Inga, however I went w/ Sovereign Class. It looks badass for a Feddie ship. Defiant was a close second, because it is a tough little ship!!!

Haha I've never felt the ship looked like a "toilet seat". Don't know what bathrooms you go into. :P But fair enough. I think the Defiant was meant to look like a tank. Small, stubby but tough!

Cute!?! /offended Worf voice/ Haha yeah it really is hard to explain, but the ship seems so cool. I also love that it comes across as a jack-of-all-trades. It's really fast (fast enough to catch up to the fast Prometheus-class), it's really strong (was smacking around Cardassian ships under Maxwell), and has good science capabilities. I only wish we saw an actual interior. They showed like 5 different bridges (redress) so it is hard to know how it looks inside...

Yes, CUTE. :P

I liked Maxwell's ready room a lot interior-wise. I also like the idea of this cute little ship being able to knock Cardassians around, hehe. IT IS SO CUTE and did I mention that it's cute? I'd want one just to look at it and be like "awww cutie-cutie-cutie-shippy".

Sovereign for me. I chop and change between which classes I really like but the Sovereign will always be the top of my list. And I think I'll go against the grain here by saying I prefer the Enterprise-E as she is in Nemesis; the nacelles seemed a tad too low in First Contact and Insurrection.

I like the Nemesis Enterprise-E as well. *hides with you* But I do prefer the First Contact one. But the Nemesis one was okay with me. Especially the interior. Well except for the missing Mintakan tapestry, that is. I know, I'll never get over that one.

Maybe Picard just junked it like he did his Kurlan naiskos ( :giggle: ); which he just thoughtlessly tossed into a burnt pile of debris in GEN (seriously; WTF?!? Wasn't this thing 'priceless'? ).

^ Like I already said at some other point - he's only holding the TOP of it in that pic. I dunno, maybe the rest of it was smashed, which WOULD render the top kinda useless since its only priceless when complete. Or it isn't the actual thing in the first place. It would have made sense for him to put the real one in storage in a safe place far away from the Enterprise.

Actually, I'm trying to come up with explanations about something that your favorite movie messed up. :P *hugs*

Seriously, though - it really angers me how the TNG movies dismissed the canon of the series in such disrespectful ways by having him throw away that thing Professor Galen gave him and by removing the Mintakan tapestry... this sort of thing really rubs me the wrong way. I don't expect them to respect every single item Jean-Luc ever collected, but BOTH these things were INCREDIBLY important to him. And what did they keep for Nemesis? The fencing mask (if I remember correctly). Now THAT one they wouldn't have needed to display. Fencing is just a hobby, but archaeology is something that goes FAR beyond just that for Jean-Luc. Arrrghhhh, why didn't they let me be in charge of these details

probably a bit biased with my love for DS( I picked the defiant class.

Unlike some ships I grew to like, defiant was one of those that looked right from the minute I saw it.

Voyager looked good also, but the defiant was a pocket rocket which was the ideal ship for the station

Had to go with the Constitution class (the Enterprise 1701. No bloody A, B,. or C....) TOS is/was/always will be my first love in Trek so I am biased toward its characters and the Enterprise was as much a character as the crew.

Wish we could have seen a Federation Class Dreadnaught sometime, maybe the fan projects will do that sometime (they've already shown a single nacelle scout ship so I'm hopeful).

I know I've heard the name before in ST books and such, but wasn't STID's USS Transformerprise--er, Vengeance supposed to be a Dreadnought class?

Yes, but the Federation Class is a 3 nacelle design in the TOS era, both tv and movie. The third engine was supposedly only used for generating phaser and shield power (though could be used if one of the other two were damaged for warp). In the tv series era the bridge is actually in the center of the saucer section so it is protected (in place of the usual bridge is another navigational dome), and the shuttle bay is in the front of the secondary hull, but when they did the refit design (TOS movies) they put the bridge and shuttle bay where they are on any other ship. I'll see if I can figure out how to post a picture here and show what it looks like.
