Flint

Even though Requiem for Methuselah isn't a particularly brilliant episode (IMO, anyway), I have to admit that I've always found the character of Flint/Akharin quite fascinating. He's a person who has lived for thousands of years, has seen so much. In some ways, his character can be seen as a precursor to Highlander, does anyone else reckon?

Incidentally, a very good short story featuring Flint is The Immortality Blues, contained in Strange New Worlds vol. 9. It fleshes out a lot of the detail on World War III and Colonel Green too.

Interestingly, despite Kirk's promise to keep Flint's secret, he apparently did claim to have met Leonardo Da Vinci (one of Flint's personas) as Janeway mentions in Concerning Flight (though she does add that evidence is "less than conclusive").

I'd read somewhere (can't remember where) that ENT producer Manny Coto (helmer of the brilliant 4th season of the show) was planning to introduce Flint (in one name or another) on ENT in it's (never realized) 5th season. A shame that never happened....

That woulda been interesting to see. I liked Flint.

Apparently, in Earth's 1960s he was an American super spy....

Just FYI, to any spy film buffs? The Flint movies are utterly hilarious...

I thought for a second you said he was an American "super gay". And I'm like, that picture doesn't show that. :P

No, not so much.... ;)

Although a gay super spy would be really interesting too, I think.
