Any idea how to get the older Star Trek games to play on Windows Vista?

I'm looking at the Starship Creator and Captain's Chair but they keep giving me a "projector error"

It depends on which kind of computer the game is designed for. Like for example, the older games are designed for Windows 95 or Windows 98, and sometimes they won't play on Vista or later versions. Sometimes you'd have to change the settings in-game, other times you'd have to mess around with your computer compatibility settings to get it right.

I googled projector error troubleshooting, and I found this:

1. Right click on the desktop icon for the game and click on "Properties"

2. Click on "Compatibility"

3. Check the box that says "Run this program in Compatibility Mode"

4. In the dropdown box, select one of the compatibility choices (Windows 95, 98, etc.)

Hope this helps. =)

If running it in Compatibility Mode doesn't work, right-click it and select "Run as Administrator." Both seem to work, except when I tried to run Bridge Commander on Win7, I had to perform the latter.

I have two hard disks. One with Windows 7 for games that will be released that only support Windows 7 and one with XP for older games compatibility.

I never played Klingon Academy but I heard it was brilliant. Mine were Armada 2, Elite force 2 and Bridge Commander. The Starfleet command games were brilliant but SFC was quite bugged. Starfleet academy was great but that is really hard to play without Windows 95. Still got ST: 25th anniversary and Judgement rights for oldskool gaming. Away team and Birth of the Federation were great for getting in a TNG mood. Great TNG games. I got introduced to BotF pretty late but I love it. Cardassians ftw. :D
