Lol, did no one take their first ever look at a Galaxy class and think "Hey, I don't hate this design"?

Maybe it's due to the fact that "Encounter At Farpoint" really has this awful opening shot in which the Enterprise-D zooms in from slightly above I think. The ship looks hideous from that angle IMO - that might have made a lot of people go like "eeeew, what's THAT???". ;)

Well *I* actually liked it the first time I saw it, but soon realized that it was somewhat ungainly (what with its large primary hull and small nacelles).

I give it a SIX. I actually like the hotel interior much better than the unbalanced exterior.

And those who think there's too much light inside...y'all must need shades (as I do) with all the pointless, ridiculous light inside the Abramsprise!

I also really like the galaxy-class, as it was the first ship I ever saw watching TNG when I was little. However, I do agree with you guys about the lighting, which is why I liked the Generations version.

I actually like it. It's no edgy, sexy, dangerous looking thing. But it does have a majestic presence. It fitted very well the feel of the show and its diplomatic captain and mission. It was massive and certainly, I never understood the need to 'create' bigger ships than it. It is a perfect colonisation support ship - transporting the colonists and equipment necessary. Likeiwse, suitable for so many other types of missions.

I think it looks awesome on lots of different shots created by artists - and like Starfire says the more detailed models that give a real sense of the ship are terrific. It looks elegant and serene and the Dominion War showed that it could also kick ass in a fight - more so than what TNG showed.

7, mainly because it just doesn't look like a space ship should..... it's all over the place and oddly shaped. and it got blown up by a defunct bird of prey.

now the defiant.... now THAT'S a ship....

9 from me. I can't decide what I like better between this and Sovereign Class, they are both beautiful in appearance and sentimental values. When it comes down to power though, 10 is reserved for The Borg.

I like it.

It's proportions are almost exactly right (unlike certain other ships).

It can look a bit like a flying hotel rather than a serious Starship, but it suits the style of the series well.

Plus it can separate which is interesting, and the interiors all look nice.

Like most ships, it looks much better as a model than it does with CGI.
