Only 48 years to go.... ;-D

  2. When you watch Star Trek...

Most of the time. Like, I'll sit through TOS's theme because it's short enough not to get bored with, but with longer themes like DS9 or Voyager, I'll skip ahead. I mean, I like their opening themes, but I can't sit through them all the time. It's like 'come oooon, let's get to the episode already!' The ENT theme definitely depends on my mood. While I like the song on its own, it gets old fast, like hearing the same song on the radio every single day. I watch that opening just to see the rockets launching and the Sojourner Mars rover, but nothing much else. And, this is just a personal opinion, but I think it's a sin to skip TNG's theme!!
  3. What's the last non-Trek book you've read?

I've been on a Jim Butcher kick for the past year or so. I just finished reading his latest installment in his Dresden Files series, Skin Game. As far as I can see, he hasn't lost his touch with it (which is a good thing, considering it's like thirteen books long now). I started reading his Codex Alera books last week, and I'm practically zipping through the first one. Yep, I've decided he's one of my favorite authors. On another note, I've also *finally* finished George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series (so far). I can see why they would make it into a TV show and not a movie series, but even then, there's a lot of stuff they left out!
  4. "Death is that state in which one exists only in the memories of others which is why it is not an goodbyes, just good memories." ~Tasha Yar. RIP Leonard Nimoy.

YOU'RE BACK! Where have you been? :P

  5. Leonard Nimoy dies at 83

I got the news while I was at work today. I was taking my lunch break when I decided to check my Facebook, and the news of his death was the first thing that came up. This is some very sad news, indeed. I figured this would happen after his most recent hospitalization, but I didn't think it'd be so soon. It's weird, because I've seen posts in which people said they were absolutely floored over the news; others mentioned having gotten the news before leaving for work and debated calling in sick. I would have gone home early myself if Fridays weren't my busiest days. I also stopped in on Star Trek Online to see how people were taking this. They were holding a memorial on Vulcan for him, mostly reminiscing over his work in and out of Star Trek. As Tasha Yar had said in her own memorial recording, “Death is that state in which one exists only in the memories of others which is why it is not an end. No goodbyes…just good memories.” Those words ring just as true now as they did then. His wit and wisdom were an inspiration to us all. He will truly be missed. I can imagine he's driving Bones crazy right now, too.

Is this the real this just prophecy...caught in a wormhole, no escape from reality?

  9. Trek Dreams

I had one recently where I was on Cardassia helping out with some relief effort after the Dominion War, and one of the people I was working with said that they knew one of the scientists from DS9: Destiny, and that the other scientists at the Science Ministry referred to her as "Dr. Sunshine" because of her cheerful attitude. Then I remember we found somebody's house that had been bombed by the Dominion had survivors trapped in the basement, and when we finally dug them out, we found that the survivors had a bunch of pet lions living with them. One of the cubs started playing with me, and the Cardassian owner said something like "You must have a way with animals, because I've never seen the little guy do that."
  10. Which Star Trek Actors Have You Met?

Captain_Bravo, you are one lucky dude. Oh man, that's awesome! I want to meet Andy Robinson sometime. I hear a lot of good things about him.
  11. "That voice" or "Hey, that's...."(Unexpected places for Trek actors)

Speaking of Rene Auberjonois, I found out recently that he voice the French chef in Disney's The Little Mermaid. I can't watch that movie without imagining Odo going on some twisted homicidal rampage while singing "Les Poissons". This was the very reason why I started watching Gargoyles--because its cast was full to busting with Trek actors lending their voices. A couple days ago, I was playing an MMO called The Secret World, and I heard Jeffrey Combs voicing a doctor who was working for the Illuminati. Actually, the first five seconds you see of him is the guy filling a syringe full of greenish liquid, which was a nod to his role in the Re-Animator films in the 80s. But I remember sitting there going 'OMG!! JEFFREY COMBS!!'
  12. Oh my god...this is distressing news. I do hope he's not suffering too badly.
  13. Star Trek: Fashion Fails

I never really paid attention to Quark's wardrobe (or any of the Ferengi, for that matter). To be honest, they actually look befitting of an alien race as garish as the profit-mongering Ferengi. But whatever. I do remember spotting Quark wearing a pin of some kind that looked like the Under Armour logo. ^^THIS. SO MUCH THIS. I'm a huge fan of the Romulans, but I despise the couches the producers made the Romulans wear as a uniform. And I don't like the bowl-cut hairstyle either. It looks okay on the guys, but it's not flattering at all on the ladies. Yikes. Say what you will about the whole it's-supposed-to-make-them-look-intimidating thing, but this style is just laughably bad.

Oh man, I remember this movie! My dad has it on VHS, and we used to watch it a lot. I remember being terrified of the bad guys the first time I watched it, though. Terrified as in, ran-and-hid-behind-the-couch scared. But man, did it have an awesome soundtrack, never mind the middle-of-the-road plot.
  15. What's My Line?

I love that line. Though I find myself quoting this a lot: Garak: I have them! I have them. By all means Commander, do as they ((the Jem'hadar)) say. Bashir: Garak... Garak: You heard me, Doctor! Well I'm glad to see the plan is going as scheduled. Jem'hadar: What plan is that? Garak: You mean no one told you? You see, I pretend to be their friend, and then I shoot you!" *shoots Jem'hadar* Sisko: Well done, Garak. Garak: Well, it's just something I read once in a book. Bashir: I'm sure! I also like the scene in which Commander Sela orders Spock to make a speech in front of the Romulan senate. Spock refuses, but Sela warns him that if he doesn't obey, he, Picard and Data will die. Then Spock goes, "Since it's logical to conclude that you'll kill us in any event, I choose not to cooperate." To which Sela hisses, "I HATE Vulcans! I hate the logic, I hate the arrogance!"
