  2. Doctor Who: The Pilot. I loved the photos, although the exact battle they visited escaped me. I like Bill, even if her masculine name bothers me for some reason I can't quite fathom. Recently I've also seen the first two episodes of Victoria, an 8 episode miniseries starring Jenna Coleman. Very good, if you like historical docudramas like I do.
  3. Looks really cool. Just watched Rogue One again today and I can't wait for Christmas...
  4. I just wish I could see the definite cut in theater. It's a beautiful movie, but parts of it really made me uncomfortable, especially Deckard forcing himself on that skinjob.
  5. Great stuff. Feels almost like I'd been there too.
  6. Episode 8 is freely available now. I really enjoyed it, they just seem to get better and better at it. I guess I'll have to see all of them again at some point, not that that's a chore by any means.
  7. This is comparing apples to oranges and kiwifruit. I would like to see the extended editions of the Hobbit movies, though, as the extended editions of LoTR are much better than the theatrical releases. Prequels only count as such if they're actually made after the movies they supposedly precede, so the SW original series vs. the Disney sequels doesn't count as such. That said, I really enjoyed TFA and I'm looking forward to episodes 8 and 9.
  8. Well, to be fair, no anime characters I've seen look remotely Japanese or Asian, the round eyes that are used in manga style kinda spoil it for me. Ghost in the Shell is actually one of the few anime I've seen, even if it was something like 15 years ago. I'm not panning this one unseen because of casting choices.
  9. D'oh! Thanks for the clarification.
  10. Given the fact that Discovery isn't going to be broadcast anywhere, a new fan can jump in at any time and then go back to watch the show from the beginning on the streaming service. So I expect that they'll lean heavily towards serialization, with binge watchers as the ideal long-term audience. That said, they need something to pull in viewers in the first place. As a Trek fan living outside the US, I have no idea what else NBC is going to offer on its streaming service except Discovery and how much they have invested in the show as a way to get people to sign up for the service.
  11. Pretty much all of TOS is linear storytelling. Most Trek episodes since have at least an A and a B story, and possibly C and occasionally D (maybe just a scene or two) as well. I don't think DSC is going to do completely linear storytelling over a whole season, but rather, episodes where the main story is interleaved with more episode specific scenes, or vice versa. DS9 and Babylon 5 did this really well.
  12. Gone With The Wind on blu-ray. Beautiful.
  13. That was weird... It took me forever to post anything yesterday, I hope it's only temporary.
  14. Yeah, this round avi default is stupid. But I'm very glad to be back!
